Using white and red grapes in the same wine may seem like madness, but has to be one of the most famous blends - Shiraz Viognier. Steve is very much a fan and this is his take. The Shiraz comes from a windswept site along the Willunga escarpment and the Viognier, in which only the skins were used, just a tad east down the road. It's beautiful to look at, the aromatics are lifted and spicy, while the palate is silky and indulgent as it should be. Give this wine a few more years to see it at its best!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Steve Grimley
"If there's a winemaker who hasn't had a deep love affair with the Rhône Valley at some point in their lives, I don't know them. I was hit particularly hard in my early 20s, proper puberty-style obsession. Actually I reckon Kate and Cindy came down from the wall for my first map covering the 250km long rift valley, which within no time was covered with pins and dirty finger marks referencing where last week's pay cheque had been spent." - Steve Grimley.
