Wines from our own vines around the world
Vineyard Collection is our venture into bespoke winemaking. Vineyard Collection
Seven vineyards, five countries, one collection
Vineyard Collection brings flavours of the world to your dinner table.
For the very first time, we have secured our own parcels of vines and brought them home to bottle under Virgin Wines. By getting our hands dirty and creating each blend ourselves, we’ve been able to craft a collection that showcases some of our favourite wine styles. Each plot of vines allows us to produce a wine that truly reflects the terroir of that vineyard.
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Our venture into French winemaking took us to a region steeped in viticultural history stretching back to 125BC. Here, among the dramatic patchwork of schist, altitude and wild garrigue, Vignerons Catalans create wines that truly speak of place. With some of the finest vineyards in Roussillon, winemaker Cedric Ragues has been extremely generous sharing a plot of his vines with us to play around with.
Vineyard Collection Syrah Grenache 2022 is all about balance and beauty. Floral notes of rose and violet are layered over juicy black fruit, with some Grenache grapes bringing ample fleshiness and a rounded, succulent finish.
Riebeek Valley, South Africa
A region of rolling hills and rugged, untamed beauty, we have chosen two vineyards here. Vineyard Collection Oak Valley Swartland Cinsault 2022 is sourced from just three precious rows on the slopes of Kasteelberg. Produced in tiny volumes, it bursts with vibrant red berries, hints of tea and herbs, and gloriously sweet, moreish fruit.
Vineyard Collection Konstantia Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2023 comes from 40-year-old vines rooted in sandy, quartz-laced soils, delivering lifted florals, lime and almond, with a gentle chalky edge. A clever split between cement and oak keeps it fresh yet beautifully rounded, layering nectarine and peach over mouth-watering acidity.
Sussex, England
In the postcard-perfect village of Herstmonceux, just five miles from the sea and basking in one of England’s sunniest, driest pockets, Henners Vineyard is quietly redefining English bubbly. When it came to producing a sparkling wine for our collection, winemaker Collette O’Leary and her incredible Sussex winery were top of our list.
Vineyard Collection English Sparkling Wine is made the traditional way, with reserve wines and a touch of barrel-fermented Chardonnay, delivering citrus, cox apple, brioche richness and a long, elegant finish.
McLaren Vale, Australia
Just south of Adelaide, where ocean breezes meet mountain shadows, McLaren Vale delivers drama in every direction. This is the birthplace of many of our bestselling Australian wines, and for Vineyard Collection we have gone even deeper, securing two exclusive plots with the brilliant Andrea Maxwell. Stellenbosch trained and globally seasoned, Andrea crafts wines with heart, precision and a fearless sense of place.
Vineyard Collection Munzy Old Vine Grenache 2023, made from ancient bush vines on sandy soils, oozes cherry and raspberry on a bright, juicy and poised palate. Vineyard Collection Pedder Old Vine Shiraz 2023, from sea-facing foothills, is much darker and more brooding, layered with plum, spice and fine, powdery tannins.
Franschhoek Valley, South Africa
We were excited to take our winemaking project to the wild edge of the mountainous Franschhoek region. For 350 years nobody thought to plant vines on this untamed land, until a band of brave idealists did exactly that. Today, winemaker JD Rossouw and his crew tend some of the Cape’s oldest, finest vines here, and they’ve been kind enough to dedicate a few to us.
Vineyard Collection Old Vine Stockie Semillon 2023 comes from vines planted in 1905 and 1936. Part amphora, part Austrian Stockinger oak, this wine is bright, mineral and intense, with citrus, white peach and a long, poised and flinty finish.
