The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Bordeaux - Lussac Saint-Émilion

When most wine lovers think of Saint-Émilion, they picture one of Bordeaux's most prestigious appellations. Yet just beyond its borders lie the satellite villages, where many of the same winemaking traditions, soils and grape varieties continue to thrive. Château Les Vieilles Pierres is a perfect introduction to Lussac Saint-Émilion, offering the generous fruit, elegance and character associated with the region, alongside a personality all of its own. It's the kind of wine that reminds you some of Bordeaux's most rewarding discoveries are found just off the beaten path.

The Winemaker

Mr Vergniol
Winemaker:

Mr Vergniol

Château Les Vieilles Pierres has belonged to the Vergniol family for two generations. Located in Lussac-Saint-Émilion, northeast of Bordeaux, the estate is now managed by Christophe Baudet, the family's nephew, who also runs Château La Pervenche in the neighbouring Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.

"We selected Château Les Vieilles Pierres because it perfectly captures the appeal of Lussac Saint-Émilion. The generous red fruit, subtle spice and balanced structure make it an easy wine to return to, while the family ownership and traditional vineyard heritage give it a genuine sense of authenticity." - Issy Wardlow, Wine Buyer.
