The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Languedoc - Corbières
From the rugged hills of Corbières in the Languedoc, Domaine d’Aussieres Altan captures the wild beauty of southern France. The vines grow among rocky limestone soils, scented garrigue and sun-drenched slopes, producing a red rich in ripe blackberry and dark plum fruit supported by warming spice. Crafted by the renowned Rothschild family estate, this is a generous, characterful wine that balances Mediterranean warmth with freshness and finesse.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jean de Roquefeuil
Jean de Roquefeuil has led Domaine d’Aussières since 2022, bringing a wealth of experience from the prestigious Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite portfolio. Raised among the vineyards of Bordeaux and trained as both an agricultural engineer and oenologist, he combines technical expertise with a deep respect for the land. Today, he works to unlock the full potential of Aussières’ rugged Corbières terroir, crafting wines that express its authenticity, character and Mediterranean charm.
"The generous fruit and aromatic herb notes create a real sense of place in the glass. A wine shaped by sun, stone and Mediterranean winds. The wine has good freshness, is well balanced whilst showcasing the region's naturally expressive ripe fruit character." - Dave Roberts, Wine Buyer.
