The Wine The Wine
Greece
Region:Peloponnese
Although Assyrtiko is best known for its roots on the island of Santorini, the variety is now thriving across mainland Greece. Here, winemaker Leonidas captures the grape’s hallmark freshness and mineral character, crafting a vibrant and effortlessly bright white wine. Influenced by the cool mountain air of the Peloponnese, this is a crisp, refreshing bottle that brings a taste of the idyllic Greek coast straight to your table.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Leonidas Nassiakos
Leonidas, a third-generation winemaker, studied oenology at Patras University in Greece. He became chief winemaker at Chateau Semeli in 2000, while also crafting wines with his father at the family estate. Over the years, he has earned a reputation as the 'King of Moschofilero' in Greece. Today, he collaborates with George Kintonis at Kintonis Winery, producing exceptional wines from both indigenous Greek and international grape varieties.
"Assyrtiko is best known for being from Santorini, but this wine proves mainland Greece can deliver the same quality without the premium price tag." - Issy Wardlow, Wine Buyer.
