The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Bordeaux - Sauternes
From the misty vineyards of Sauternes, Château Partarrieu captures the magic of one of the world’s great sweet wine regions. Morning mists from the Garonne and Ciron rivers encourage the development of botrytis, concentrating flavours and creating remarkable richness. Led by old vine Sémillon, with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle adding freshness and lift, this wine layers honey, apricot and candied citrus with hints of toasted hazelnut. Aged for 12 months in French oak, it finishes long, elegant and beautifully balanced.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Paul Mercadier
Led by fourth-generation winemaker Paul Mercadier, Vignobles Mercadier combines family tradition with a modern outlook. Paul oversees every aspect of the winery, from vineyard management to winemaking. Working alongside a small, experienced team, he crafts contemporary, elegant wines that remain true to their Bordeaux roots. The estate is HVE certified, reflecting its commitment to environmentally responsible vineyard practices.
"Season after season our teams carefully tend our vines until the famous grape harvest, always carried out manually. This meticulous operation is specific to Sauternes wines. The overripe and candied grapes will only produce a few precious drops. Indeed, Sauternes wines are among the lowest yielding wines: it will only produce one glass of Sauternes while in most vineyards it will be one bottle!" - Paul Mercadier, Winemaker.
