The Wine

Country of origin:

Argentina

Region:

Mendoza - Uco Valley

High in the Uco Valley at 1,200m, this exceptional vineyard at the foot of the Andes produces fruit of remarkable character. As the vines transition to organic viticulture, future harvests will go into Domaine Bousquet estate wines, making this a rare, one-off chance to enjoy it now. Crafted by Rodrigo Serrano, this Malbec layers blackberry and damson with coffee, fig and dark chocolate. Rich yet poised, it balances generous fruit with fine structure and impressive depth.

The Winemaker

Rodrigo Serrano
Winemaker:

Rodrigo Serrano

Domaine Bousquet was founded in 1997 when the Bousquet family planted high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary, blending French heritage with Andean terroir. Now a benchmark for organic wines, the estate's winemaking team is led by Rodrigo Serrano, who crafts elegant, expressive wines with a focus on innovation.

"This vineyard sits high in the Uco Valley at the foot of the Andes at 1200m above sea level. The dry climate, sandy soils and cooling mountain breezes create ideal conditions for organic farming. Warm days and cool nights help the grapes ripen slowly, building flavour while keeping freshness. Deep roots draw on mineral rich soils, giving the wine its distinctive character." - Rodrigo Serrano, Winemaker.

This is a great value wine. Light and fruity enough to enjoy for summer drinking but with enough body to accompany meaty pasta dishes.

Ian

Quite light for me rather that the descriptive full bodied. Preferred slightly chilled. For me not the best from Virgin, bought blind but heyho their other recommendations have been good. the wife likes it.

Chris

Excellent flavour. Rich and plummy. Good value.
