As you walk through the rolling vineyards of the Cotnari estate, if you didn't know where you were you'd be convinced you were in Northern Rhône or any other "Classic" European wine producing region - and to a certain extent you are. Romania has a history of winemaking stretching back millennia. So, while you may not recognise the name of the region or the grape variety, you are in very safe hands with this full bodied and sumptuously fruity red.

Casa de Vinuri Cotnari is the "second-generation" project of Cotnari: a premium estate born in the heart of a vineyard with over two millennia of history, just north of the 45th parallel, where the sun and the Carpathian foothills have shaped the same rolling landscape for centuries. A young winemaker with a rigorous academic background, George oversees the entire vinification process for the estate's white, rosé and red wines. Under his guidance, Casa de Vinuri Cotnari released the first dry wines ever made from the traditional Cotnari varieties and introduced two grapes that have since become emblematic for the estate's modern identity: Fetească Albă and Fetească Neagră.
