The Winemaker

Tim Perrin
Winemaker:

Tim Perrin

Kooyong's story began in the late 1990s, but its modern chapter started in 2004 when the Gjergja family took ownership. From there, the winery's reputation flourished, reaching a milestone in 2012 when it was awarded James Halliday's prestigious title of 'Winery of the Year'. Situated in the Mornington Peninsula, renowned for producing world-class, cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Kooyong naturally draws some inspiration from Burgundy. However, its wines remain unmistakably regional, defined by a signature freshness, refined elegance and harmonious balance.

"Aromatic and fresh with spiced strawberry, red cherry and baking spice aromas. The tannins are fine-grained yet firm, giving good structure to the glossy-textured wine. Raspberry, dried herbs and game notes give this wine a moreish quality." - Tim Perrin, Winemaker.
