The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Loire - Touraine

Winemakers and best of pals Jean Baptiste and Stéphane Bodet and proprietors of this wonderful domaine, craft a range of high-quality wines that are reflective of the terroir of the Loire Valley. The grapes for the 'Le Clocher' are sourced from carefully selected 20-year-old vines on clay flint and kaolin soils in the Amboise appellation and the finished wine is raring to go, yet has the building blocks to develop complexity over the coming years.

Domaine Bonnigal-Bodet is located in Limeray, Amboise, in the heart of the Loire Valley. Having been handed down from father to son since 1927, the estate is now run by the fourth generation of the family and long-time best friends Jean Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet, who took over together in 2015. The vineyards themselves are stretched across a large range of terroirs, with a multitude of local grape varieties, including Chenin Blanc, Côt, Sauvignon Blanc and Pineau d’Aunis. The viticulture practices emphasise organic and biodynamic principles, minimizing the use of chemical inputs, promoting biodiversity.

"A dry, lively Chenin Blanc with bright apple, citrus and white peach aromas that lead onto a zesty palate balanced by mouth-coating texture from quince fruit and a touch of almond lead to a long, crisp, mineral-driven finish." - Jean Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet, Winemakers.
