Father-son team Philippe and Pierre Alliet are the proprietors of a small Domaine in Cravant-les-Côteaux, situated south-east of the lovely Loire town, Saumur. They work with minimal intervention, meticulous vineyard management and heavily restricted yields to ensure optimal ripeness of fruit. This is a deliciously pure bottle of Cabernet Franc full of juicy, ripe berry fruit.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Philippe and Pierre Alliet
Domaine Philippe Alliet farms his vineyards organically in Chinon, where diverse soil, from Vienne River gravels to hillside limestone and flinty clays, help shape the wine's character. Alliet champions minimal-intervention methods, keeping yields exceptionally low and letting the varied terroirs speak naturally through each bottle.
"This Chinon is lovely and bright in the glass, with violet highlights. Ripe blackcurrant and cherry, with liquorice and subtle pepper notes, it is rounded and structured on the palate with plenty of fruit depth, supple tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, savoury finish." - Dave Roberts, Senior Buyer.
