The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Burgundy - Morgon
Morgon, the second largest Cru in Beaujolais, is renowned for producing powerful and full-bodied reds from the region's signature Gamay grape. Here David, the winemaker, has managed to use the terroir of the cru to his advantage. Known for its treasured granitic soils, this free draining soil helps capture the intense concentration of the gamay grape. Expect blueberry, violet and cassis on the nose, complemented by subtle spice and strawberry leaf character on the palate.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
David Fernez
Trained as a chemist before following his passion into winemaking, David Fernez joined Compagnie Vinicole de Bourgogne in 2011 after completing his oenology studies. Deeply committed to Burgundian terroirs and the growers who shape them, he brings both scientific precision and refined craftsmanship to his work, playing a vital role in the creation of our Maison Chandesais wines.
"The goal with this wine was to show the power that the granitic soils of Morgon lend to a wine. With concentrated fruit and careful winemaking, we have managed to capture the dark fruit and power of the Gamay grape." - David Fernez, Winemaker.
