The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Loire - Sancerre

This exceptional family-run domine spans 12 hectares, of which 10ha are planted with Sauvignon Blanc and the remaining 2ha dedicated to Pinot Noir. The Crochets emphasize sustainable viticulture and take great care to preserve the ecosystem that surrounds them. This expression is crafted from the 'Chêne Marchand', a notable vineyard which is renowned for having extra rich limestone soils, lending a distinct minerality to the flavour profile. We love the freshness of this wine and how the flavours keep developing as you sip and swirl. Amazing with anything you fancy from the ocean.

Winemaker:

Mathieu Crochet

Domaine Jean-Marc et Mathieu Crochet is a family-run winery located in the village of Bué, Sancerre. The Crochet family has been cultivating vineyards in this region since the 16th century. Jean-Marc joined his father Bernard in 1980, and his son Mathieu became part of the estate in 2007. Together, they manage 12 hectares of vineyards, comprising 10 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 2 hectares of Pinot Noir.

"We vinify 70% of the grapes in stainless steel and 30% in clay amphora and we're really thrilled with the results, seeing an extra layer of complexity added to what was already a wonderfully engaging expression from this magnificent named vineyard." - Mathieu Crochet, Winemaker.
