The Wine

Country of origin:

Germany

Region:

Pfalz

The Lergenmüller family is known for their Burgundian style Pinot Noir, and this is a superb example. It shows bright, crisp red fruits of strawberry and redcurrant. There is a roundness on the palate, but the acidity keeps it fresh and mouth-watering. The finish is fruit-driven and has good length which is an indicator of quality. To get a Pinot Noir of this calibre from Burgundy itself you would have to shell out a lot more - making this wine great value for money.

Customer ratings

Is 'a grower'. Understand the comments regarding it being 'fizzy' and acidic as that's what hits you to begin with, but mellows about half a bottle in.

Wine was fizzy and not enjoyable.

Extremely acidic. Like drinking a slightly sparkling Dry white with a hint of berries. Not pleasant on the palate.

Very acrid tasting, not at all like other Pinot Noirs. Not really drinkable except at the end of the night. Have a second in the cellar so will update if the first wasn't representative)
