Vin De France (VDF) is the national French appellation. It gives winemakers the freedom to create wines by breaking the established rules and following their own choices of winemaking instead. Using the diversity of climates and grape varieties throughout France, it means that they can blend local grape varieties along with the more well-known ones, create a wine using the best grapes from across all wine regions in France, or wines from the same region but without any restraint.
