Jacobus Alfons, or Bobby to friends, left Indonesia in the 1950s and headed to the Netherlands. He was a great admirer of the Dutch spirit Jenever but felt it was lacking a little of his homelands spice. It was many years later that Bobby's grandson Sebastian discovered an old bottle at his mother's house. Inspired by the story about his grandfather and how he'd infused his Jenever with Indonesian spices, inadvertently creating his own recipe! Sebastian headed for Schiedam where he met the seventh generation Master Distiller of Herman Jansen. Together they started working on creating a unique gin and Bobby's Schiedam Jenever was born!
