The man bringing it all together
For generations, a close-knit network of small growers has cultivated vines across Salento, each developing an intimate understanding of their own vineyards and the fruit they produce.
Salvatore Gaudino has built close relationships with these growers and become an expert in identifying the very best fruit from across the network - selecting individual parcels for their ripeness, vibrancy and character.
For Intreccio, he has woven together his pick of their Primitivo to create a beautifully precise, modern expression of this much-loved Puglian grape - made exclusively for us. That coming together is captured in the name Intreccio - meaning “interweaving” or “intertwining” - and in the striking modern artwork created for the label.
Full of Puglian sunshine and coastal freshness
Intreccio has all the rich, sun-ripened fruit that makes great Puglian Primitivo so irresistible – but it’s the wine’s remarkable brightness, freshness and precision that truly set it apart.
Salento lies at the southernmost tip of Puglia, surrounded by sea on three sides. Here, vines flourish beneath the Mediterranean sun, while cooling coastal breezes protect the grapes and preserve their vibrant fruit. The result is a beautifully lifted red, bursting with ripe blackberry and juicy plum before revealing fragrant notes of sweet spice and cracked black pepper. Rich, rounded dark fruit fills the palate, while that coastal freshness carries everything through to a long, juicy and peppery finish.
Pour it alongside herb-grilled lamb, smoky Mediterranean vegetables, wood-fired pizza topped with spicy ’nduja or chunks of well-aged Pecorino. This is modern Primitivo at its expressive, irresistible best.
