Celebrating English Wine Week
Cheers to great wines being produced on our doorstep
Join us in raising a glass to the wonderful winemakers putting England on the global wine map. English Wine Week in June is a nationwide celebration of the flourishing wine industry here in the UK, so what better time to shine a spotlight on our best homegrown wineries?
The sparkling wine revolution
Exceptionally made sparkling wine is the style that got England noticed. With our cool climate and chalky terroir similar to the Champagne region, English producers realised they had all the tools to create something rather special. British bubbly has become a hugely popular category in the UK and beyond, with many wineries winning prestigious awards and global recognition.
Still wines stealing the spotlight
Sparkling wines may have garnered international acclaim, but in 2025 we're seeing a surge in the popularity of still wine production. Wineries such as London Cru are at the forefront of this movement, focusing their efforts on crafting top quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the heart of London.
What's on the horizon
Now that England is established on the wine scene, producers are investing more time in working sustainably. Our friends at Henners are committed to sustainable vineyard and winery practices and were even founding members of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain scheme. Expect to see more sustainably made English wines as this exciting winemaking country continues to evolve!
