The Wine

Country of origin:

Australia

Region:

Victoria - Yarra Valley

Dry Red No.2 is an iconic release from multi-award-winning Australian producer Yarra Yering and is crafted from estate vineyards planted on deep, grey silty-loam soils with bands of gravel. The vines are unirrigated, and all the grapes are harvested at peak ripeness by hand into 18kg containers during the early morning to capture maximum fruit character and retain freshness. The blend changes a little from vintage to vintage and this bottling comprises of 95% Shiraz, 3% Mataro, 1% Viognier and 1% Marsanne. It is quite simply an amazing bottle of wine that is drinking well now and will continue to develop for many years to come with careful storage.

Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most stunning vineyards in Victoria's Yarra Valley. Founded in 1969 by the visionary Dr Bailey Carrodus, it made waves with its very first vintage in 1973, producing the iconic Dry Red Wine No.1 and No.2. Renowned for its exceptional quality and unique character, Yarra Yering swiftly earned international acclaim, setting a high bar for other wineries in the Yarra Valley to follow.

"Blackberry and tar scents with some earthy notes and dried herbs in the background. Medium-bodied yet firmly structured, this is pleasantly restrained with ample fruit leading into an earthy and mineral finish." - Sarah Crowe, Winemaker.
