The Wine

Country of origin:

Australia

Region:

South Australia

Our VAT series is reserved for wines that stand out from the rest when we're selecting where and how to use each parcel from a specific vintage. We made the decision to bottle a wine made from 100% Durif for this range last year and, although we've changed the source of the grapes, the result and quality of this batch is even more impressive than the previous release! Inky black in the glass with masses of plum and black cherry. This is a bold, full-bodied red that is worthy of its inclusion in our VAT collection.

The Winemaker

Steve Grimley
Winemaker:

Steve Grimley

Steve Grimley heads up the winemaking team at his small winery on Chalk Hill in the McLaren Vale. 25 years of working with him has added countless classics to our range. We have no intention of settling for all the wins we've had, we're going to continue to push the boundaries and bring you truly exceptional wines that always carry his signature drinkability.

"This is a fruit-forward red that has notes of ripe plum, liquorice and a lovely plushness to the silky fruit. An excellent partner to almost any circumstance and, although drinking perfectly now, it will continue to develop handsomely in the bottle for a few years." - Steve Grimley, Winemaker.

Stephen

Nice wine full bodied, however, not as good as its brothers.

Martin

Love it

Nick

Full bodied red with a lovely aftertaste.

Sarah

This is a very lively wine. Full of flavour. This is another banger of a wine. Just great for beef or lamb tagine. Goes with a jolly good roast dinner. The wine works well with most meats. Love it!
