The Wine

Country of origin:

Argentina

Region:

Mendoza

You will no doubt have heard of Mendoza if you are a lover of Argentinian wines. However, if you are looking for the very best that this region has to offer then let us introduce you to Amada Vista Reserve Malbec. Made from premium parcels of grapes, including some from the high-altitude vineyards of Agrelo within the Luján de Cuyo subregion (home to the most famous names in Argentinian winemaking). With its deep purple colour and enticing aromas of ripe blueberry compote, plums and a touch of vanilla, this wine captivates from the first sip. In the mouth, there's a symphony of flavours, where juicy blueberry, dark chocolate and praline notes meld with hints of violet and spices. Velvet tannins provide a silky mouthfeel, leading to a long, memorable finish.

The Winemaker

Stephen Huse
Winemaker:

Stephen Huse

Stephen Huse trained in oenology at the University of Bordeaux. Before establishing Belhara Estate he worked within the winemaking team at the highly esteemed Châteaux Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild, as well as at Harlan Estate and Merryvale Vineyards in the Napa Valley and Almaviva (Concha y Toro) in Chile.

"Many of these grapes come from our plots within Luján de Cuyo, home to some of the oldest and most prestigious vineyards in Argentina. The region's high altitude, combined with sandy and gravelly soils, contributes to the unique characteristics and exceptional quality of this Malbec." - Stephen Huse, Winemaker.

Does what it says on the tin - but one of the nicest Malbec's I've had at this price I think. A nice one for a treat, but there is a lot of competition.

A bit too dry for me

Very smooth
