The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Burgundy - Bourgogne

It was the slight creamy texture up front that caught our attention whilst hunting for some new wines from across Burgundy. On the finish, there is plenty of underlying minerality with hints of citrus zestiness that provide balance and keep the tight finish long and engaging. The vines are located to the south of the Mâconnais region, with an impressive average age north of 30 years. The soil is classic argilo-calcaire (limestone) that is ideally suited to Chardonnay and lends that unmistakable elegance and finesse to the final wines.

The Winemaker

Samantha Bailey
Winemaker:

Samantha Bailey

Our strong winemaking philosophy developed to achieve our aim of making quality wines, which are representative of the region and variety at every price point. Minimal intervention in the winery, use of indigenous yeasts where possible, maximum aeration of the reds and judicious use of oak to enhance the wines where necessary are key to our success in making very drinkable and food friendly wines.

"This, for me, is a classic Chardonnay from Southern Burgundy – delicate floral notes and little butteriness on the nose. A wine of substance and finesse on the palate that is long to finish." - Samantha Bailey, Winemaker.

A decent enough chardonnay but doesn't justify the price tag. I found the 1 Little Black Pigs chard more enjoyable and mch much better value.
