The Wine The Wine
Germany
Region:Württemberg
Lemberger isn't the most well-known of grape varieties (although perhaps better known as Blaufrnkisch) but its style fits well with the new trend for light, accessible reds. This is grown in the south of Germany where the summers are hotter and the grapes ripen nicely, so while this has a natural brightness to its crisp black fruit, there's an appealing approachability to its softness too.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Rainer Schnaitmann
Weingut Schnaitmann is more than just a winery, it's a local institution with its policy of training up at least three budding young winemakers every harvest.
"This is a great wine for all occasions. It has the lightness about it to suit an afternoon glass of wine (chill it slightly in summer) but the depth and interest to catch your attention on a cold winter's evening." - Rainer Schnaitmann, Winemaker.
