This is from Fleurie's renowned "La Roilette" area, a prized part of this already prestigious Cru Beaujolais.
Engagingly sweet berry fruit, violets and a hint of black pepper coat the mouth, whilst fine-grained tannins add structure.

Fleurie needs no introduction, as the wines are some of the most highly regarded in Beaujolais. But what you might not know is that within Fleurie the 'La Roilette' area is particularly sought after due to its red granite soils, interspersed with clay layers which produce wines that are both minerally and full of charm. Winemaker Bernard Matrat harnesses this natural verve and crafts this wine from vines that are over 60 years old, then part of the vintage is vinified in oak barrels so that the wine remains balanced and shows a good length.
