The Wine

Country of origin:

New Zealand

Region:

Marlborough

A superbly racy bottle of Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc that is loaded with citrus and passionfruit flavours and just a nod towards more vegetal characters, reminding of fresh asparagus. You can quite happily enjoy a glass of Mountain View well chilled on its own, but if you're looking for a food pairing we'd recommend you keep to your favourite fish and seafood dishes. From mussels in a cream and white wine sauce through to teriyaki salmon - there isn't much that comes from the ocean that won't work.

The Winemaker

Beth Forrest
Winemaker:

Beth Forrest

The team at Forrest have been working tirelessly to make lower ABV wines by following more traditional processes in the vineyards and winery, not looking to technology to do the work for them. The biggest problem was getting the balance between the sugar and acid right, especially the sugar. Through meticulous vineyard work and strict temperature control through fermentations they've achieved what they set out to do - make naturally lower ABV wines that are wonderfully balanced and deliver top-notch drinking.

"Mountain View Sauvignon Blanc pretty much leaps out of the glass once you've poured it, with red capsicum, passionfruit and fresh herb notes. I love the fullness of the palate with that crisp refreshing, tropical Marlborough finish. At only 9.5% alcohol it represents ultra-modern drinking." - Beth Forrest, Winemaker.

A travesty of a Marlborough. No body, very little flavour and nothing like a traditional Marlborough. We tried for lower alcohol as an experiment but have come to the conclusion after many years that unless a wine has at least 11% strength it is not worth buying. Daft to pay more than for a 'real' Marlborough!

Not enough body or taste and not worth the price being the most expensive Sauvignon Blanc I have ordered. I was not made aware when I ordered over the telephone that this is a low alcohol wine.

Too sour for my liking
