The small lofty area of Vinsobres sits within the CDR appellation but its wines have long been signalled out for their purity, richness and tendency to live long. This is a blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. A wine with a medium-full body, a raspberry concentrated nose, with layers of darker fruit and good spice. It will age well and evolve to show morello cherry and blackcurrant jam with lifted herbs and enhanced spice.

Laurent, having inherited some beautiful vineyards in the village of Vinsobres from his father, set about converting these to be capable of producing the grapes that befitted his exceptional chalk boulder-strewn terroir. These are amazing old vines, sitting in the shadow of Mount Ventoux.
"I am really happy with the wines from the 2014 vintage which, for many, was a really difficult one. Our vineyards, thankfully, escaped the torrential rains during harvest which was a huge relief, allowing us to bring very healthy grapes into the winery at peak ripeness. The Grenache has great purity of fruit with quite remarkable balance. The Syrah, from some higher altitude vineyards, is full of red berry fruit, richly concentrated and fleshy with plenty of balancing freshness." Laurent Espinasse, Winemaker.
