The Wine

Country of origin:

Chile

Region:

Casablanca Valley

Our friends at De Martino have gifted us this classic Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. We say gifted...it wasn't free...but gifted in the sense that they have given us first bite at this delightful cherry. Gone are the days when Chilean Sauvignon played second fiddle to Marlborough. This style is taking over the world! Super vibrant, it has laser-precise intensity, with citrus and pear core fruits, as well as a light herbal touch and an utterly toothsome finish.

The Winemaker

Marcelo Retamal
Winemaker:

Marcelo Retamal

As winemaker at De Martino it is my role to fulfil their ambition to create wines that reflect their origin. Our philosophy is based on minimum intervention on single vineyards, including several organic and traditional winemaking methods. Wines are crafted with native yeast, balanced in alcohol and moderate oak (when needed) to preserve the essence of the vineyards. We are proud to be the first place Carménère producer, first South American Carbon Neutral winery, Chilean Wine Producer of the Year in 2005 & 2009 by IWSC and Chilean Winery of the Year 2011.

"This Sauvignon is succulent enough to be an aperitif, serious enough for grand dining, it's a ripper from the uber-cool Casablanca." Andrew Baker, Wine Buyer.
