The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Languedoc - Coteaux du Pont du Gard

This stunning wine is incredibly tasty. It's fruity and balanced, with luscious strawberry and crushed cherry flavours that pour over your tastebuds. Enjoy this wine along side grilled meats and you'll be in heaven.

The Winemaker

Dennis Deschamps
Winemaker:

Dennis Deschamps

Even before Dennis Deschamps took over as chief winemaker in 2002, Les Vignerons d'Estézargues had begun to gain recognition as one of the most dynamic co-ops in the Southern Rhône. This co-op has just 10 members with a total of only 400ha around the village of Estézargues, in the Gard, west of Avignon. Applicants from further afield are turned down: the plan is to stay small, stay local, and to make better wines. Eight of the 10 members now produce their own cuvées - a major quality step. Although he vinifies everything, Deschamps says his main contribution has been in viticulture - knowing the vineyards, assessing maturity and making careful grape selections.

"This luscious French gem is from a stunning vintage. Fruity and balanced, with lashings of strawberry and cherry flavours, this is a great wine to impress your mates with. Perfect paired with BBQ meats." Andrew Baker. Wine Buyer.

Customer ratings

Wine was unfiltered and hence relatively large amount of sediment in the wine. The sediment pieces ranged in size from ground salt to the expected larger sizes. I did not decant and last half to full glass of wine has a sludge consistency and needed to be discarded. Wine was pleasant enough but did't make me go wow.

Really enjoyed this oneLots of rich plummy fruits and perhaps more full bodied than indicated by the summary
