Founded in 1880, Santa Rita is one of Chile's oldest and most celebrated wineries, famed for producing some of the country's most iconic, award-winning wines. The Crianza classification is a firm favourite at Virgin Wines. When made with great quality fruit and aged in fine oak barrels, the results can be outstanding. The purity of the Tempranillo fruit shines through here, its evolution has been given longevity by some expertly judged barrel ageing too, and the results are delicious! The harmony between the wild strawberry and raisin notes and the sweet vanilla and spice from the oak is on point right now and will develop nicely for another two years. Pour a glass alongside a wintry casserole and you'll not regret it!

Lejano Mendoza Malbec 2025

For more than 130 years, Molinos Estate & Wineries has been at the heart of Argentine wine. Lejano is sourced from high altitude vineyards in Mendoza (over 1,000m). This estate bottled Malbec is hand-picked from vines planted back in 1990 and fermented in stainless steel to preserve purity. It shows fresh red and black fruit, bright acidity and a modern, fresher style. Sustainable practices, including lightweight bottles, drip irrigation and minimal intervention, keep the focus on clarity and balance.

The attractively pale pink rosé style has become incredibly fashionable and for good reason. The Vinteiro rosé is very much in this mould but with a slightly more intriguing spin. Led by the Touriga Nacional grape variety and supported by Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, the fruit profile is a very pleasant surprise with cherries, blueberries and fresh raspberries wrapped up in the scent of meadow flowers, delivered on the palate with a refreshing minerality from the stony Douro soils.

Aussie Chardonnay is making a comeback with clean, crisp, citrusy releases gaining a serious following. The Fuse Winemaking Team, based down in the McLaren Vale, have reigned in the oak and moved to cooler sites for their fruit, looking for more vibrancy, and this release is crafted from 100% Adelaide Hills grown grapes.

Domaine Herbauges Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu La Roche Blanche 2024

A cracking little Muscadet Domaine with 6 hectares under vine, planted on rocky, schist soil with quartz and flint pebbles that lend the wines signature minerality, exceptional freshness and vibrancy. With a light golden hue with flecks of green, this is a charming white with hints of honey and a crisp, grapefruity finish.

Brisa Branca Alvarinho 2024

Coastal Alvarinho from Portugal is becoming a firm favourite at VW. Though the grape variety has found fame in recent years from Spain's Galicia just north of the border, it's the sites along the Portuguese coast that are really starting to produce excellent quality and varietal expression at a lower price. Brisa Branca has all the trademark Alvarinho characteristics - an abundance of citrus fruit with a subtle tropical twist and a salinity on the palate that both refreshes and pairs incredibly well with all seafood dishes.

Astro Costera Reserve Semillon 2025

In the 1960s Semillon was widely planted across Chile, but fashions shifted and many vineyards were replaced by Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, leaving only a small area today. So, when this example stood out at a Chilean tasting, we secured the entire parcel. From rare, low yielding old vines in Apalta in the Colchagua Valley, it offers fresh aromatics, gentle mid-palate weight and lingering lemon barley fruit, combining heritage with vibrant, modern charm.
