This understated wine region (Valencia) is home to some of the most exciting and modern wines in the whole of Spain. These wines seem to have one thing in common: a relaxed and refreshing air. The blend of Spain's most famous red grape, Tempranillo, and the 'Rhône' pair of Garnacha (Grenache in France) and Syrah make this a wine with warmth and richness on display.

El Sabio Pinot Noir 2025

We were on the hunt for an excellent Pinot Noir and it was at an extensive tasting with the super-talented winemaker Carlos Torres Silva that we finally found it. El Sabio is made with superb, full-blooded fruit from the Valle Central region. It has sweet cherry charm and, although it has typical varietal softness, a small proportion of it was matured in older American and French oak to add roundness and generosity to the wine.

Felix Noctua Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2024

Felix Noctua, Latin for 'lucky owl' echoes the quiet confidence of a wine made with care and intent. This South Eastern Australian GSM offers depth without excess. Dark fruit, subtle spice and a wonderfully supple structure. A classic Aussie red, with a juicy black cherry and blackberry nose and spicy undertones. The wine is framed by fine grained silky tannins, that coat the mouth and linger long on the finish.

L'Impression Blanc Vin De France 2024

This sensational white has a full body and rich, generous flavours. Made from ancient southern French varieties - Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Vermentino - some of which are staples in iconic and illustrious French blends. L'Impression is given added concentration and depth as the grapes are from old vine stock, making this wine gloriously drinkable!

After the roaring success of the 16 Little Black Pigs Pinot Grigio, we thought we'd create a slightly upscale version of it with the help of Mr. Steve Grimley, our man Down Under. Like its junior peer, this wine is full of easy, lemon-infused scents and an exuberant, crisp vitality, citrus fruit at its heart, crunchy acidity and a long, lively finish - but all with added intensity. We don't want to complicate a good formula, so we haven't.

Five Bastions Bush Vine Chenin Blanc 2024

Named after the five-pointed star shape of the Castle of Good Hope on Cape Town's foreshore, this South African classic comes from ancient, mineral-rich vineyards, vineyards cooled by the coastal breezes. This crisp, Bush Vine Chenin Blanc displays clean, tropical and apple fruit flavours with a delicate mineral touch and wonderful balance.

Passeggiata IGP Sicilia Carricante 2024

This is a lovely grape variety when made well, with an excellent ability to express its origin - in this case, the sun-soaked vineyards of Sicily. Lovely, ripe stone fruit lifted by refreshing citrus and a mineral edge to the finish thanks to the limestone-rich soils these vines were grown in. This is a great all-rounder but pairs superbly well with chicken in all its guises.
