This glorious white Rioja is made from a blend of Viura and Chardonnay grapes which are planted on calcareous soil (the terroir famous for producing top quality, long-lived whites in Burgundy and Champagne). Meticulous attention to detail was taken in the vineyard and then in the winery, culminating in 5 months in a mix of American and French oak barrels. The result is a white with plenty of vivacity, and rounded, rich flavours of butter, toast, nut, pear & baked red apples.

During a buying trip to California our Head of Buying, Sophie Lord, discovered the talented Heather Nenow, a winemaker who captures the true essence of Lodi's vineyards. Sophie immediately recognised the potential in Heather's Chardonnay, but the journey didn't end there. They teamed up with California winemaking legend David Akiyoshi - whose philosophy stems directly from Robert Mondavi himself - and, together, they crafted this exceptional Chardonnay from different parcels of Heather's Lodi grapes and special cellar parcels. With rich flavours of ripe peach, banana and butterscotch, with a touch of toasty oak, this wine is perfect for those who embrace life's journey, one glass at a time.

Though the grape variety has found fame in recent years from Spain's Galicia just north of the border, it's the sites along the Portuguese coast that are really starting to produce excellent quality and varietal expression at a lower price. Brisa Branca has all the trademark Alvarinho characteristics - an abundance of citrus fruit with a subtle tropical twist and a salinity on the palate that both refreshes and pairs incredibly well with all seafood dishes.
