We commissioned this wine from our winemaking team in Oz to push the limit on the massively popular Albacore red and they have delivered in spades. This lavish creation has all the hallmarks of a top wine; beautifully textured, layered and lush fruit that fills the mouth, as well as a classic Aussie richness of fruit. It will also cellar well for at least a decade leaving you, at the end (should you make it), with a much more gastronomic and complex beast. Try it (at any time) with rare beef.

'Ladera' means slope, as this wine takes its name from the south-facing angle of its vineyard. Bringing together two varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec - has resulted in a wine with concentration, balance and a wonderful purity of fruit the Ladera vineyard is famed for. Use of French oak was judged to perfection, not overshadowing the purity of fruit, but adding layers of complexity. This is pretty special. A spicy red and black berry-scented wine that'll mature gracefully over the years.

Elgin is a unique region in South Africa's Western Cape - the only one to be surrounded by mountains and officially the coolest, very rarely getting above 30C during the height of the ripening season. The vines thrive in these conditions, having the perfect amount of stress to produce first-class grapes packed with flavour intensity and a broad spectrum of character. As a result, they are much sought-after, and this exclusive release combines super-crisp Sauvignon Blanc with a (very) old-vine parcel of Semillon.
