Just like its younger sister (the bestselling DoubleWood 12 year old) the DoubleWood 17 year old is aged in 2 distinct woods, but the extra 5 years maturation creates added depth resulting in an expertly proportioned single malt. First the spirit is aged an impressive 17 years in ex-bourbon casks, which adds sweet vanilla notes. Then it is transferred to ex-Oloroso sherry barrels for a further 6 to 12 months which adds rich and spicy flavours. From this process an enticing elixir is born.
