The ‘Duppy Share’ refers to the age-old Caribbean legend of the ‘Duppy spirits’. These spirits are said to patrol the Caribbean, taking their share of ageing rum from the casks and leaving the distiller short-changed. In fact, if you ask anyone with a vague understanding of science they’d suggest it’s not theft by spirits but evaporation. No reason for the truth to get in the way of a good yarn! The rum in the bottle is very good though, it has to be said.
