This black sambuca from leading Italian producer Polini is rich and flavoursome. The aromas and flavours are driven by witch elder bush (sambucus), in contrast to white where more star anise is used in its production. This inky purple liqueur has a lovely syrupy quality on the palate, plenty of the classic liquorice earthiness, all balanced by a smack of alcohol on the long warming finish.
