Stiegl is a proper holiday beer, you see it everywhere in Austria and it's about time it got the love it deserves here in the UK. A classic Salzburg lager, golden-yellow colour and full-bodied. The beer is brewed using all local Austrian ingredients and enjoys a gentle bitterness. Stiegl Goldbrau, or 'Salzburg's liquid gold' as it is often referred to, is incredibly refreshing and should be enjoyed in a proper pint glass as an aperitif.

Lager is a beer style that has been dumbed down over recent years by the 'macros' but in its purest form made with the finest ingredients it's a very subtle, sophisticated drink. Even though Hirter's story is over 750 years long, never moving away from quality more or less sums it up. The Pils has some sweet bread notes with light floral aromatics which develops to mild honey on the palate. It's a fine glass of pils.
