  • "Beautifully packaged, this is sweet, open and vivid with attractive cherry and berry fruit, as well as some plummy notes. Stylish with lovely ripe fruit and an attractive savoury twist. Lovely density of fruit here. 92/100" Jamie Goode's Wine Blog
  • "This is a class above what I usually drink on a Monday night. It's rich and almost sweet, with notes of cherries, smoke and liquorice, with some herby and gravelly notes on the finish." Tim's Wine Blog

The Wine

Country of origin:

Italy

Region:

Veneto

Morandina is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and once harvested, by hand of course, they are dried in a fruttaio (drying room), fermented and then matured for 18 months in oak casks before bottling. The finished wine combines black cherry fruit purity with alpine herbs, spice and silky smooth tannins. The best word to describe this wine is - elegance.

The Winemaker

Graziano Pra

Graziano Pra

The Winemaker

Graziano Pra is a name synonymous with some of the best Soave, if not THE best Soave, Italy has to offer. His estate can be located in the commune of Monteforte D'Alpone in the very heart of the Soave Classico district. Graziano fulfilled a lifelong ambition in 2000 when he purchased a small vineyard in the east of Valpolicella, and my word did he choose well! He chose a site located at 450m altitude planted on poor quality steep glacial marl slopes that yield a meagre quantity of richly concentrated grapes.

"The wine has an intense ruby red colour with tints of violet. On the nose, aromas of fresh black cherries, spices and sweet vanilla are particularly prominent. On the palate, the wine is flavoursome with good acidity, the palate is filled with the taste of cherries and plum jam as well as black pepper and rhubarb. Ideal with red meat and pasta based dishes with spicy meat sauces." Graziano Pra, Winemaker.
