Morandina Valpolicella Superiore Pra 2012

Morandina Valpolicella Superiore Pra 2012

  • "Beautifully packaged, this is sweet, open and vivid with attractive cherry and berry fruit, as well as some plummy notes. Stylish with lovely ripe fruit and an attractive savoury twist. Lovely density of fruit here. 92/100" Jamie Goode's Wine Blog
  • "This is a class above what I usually drink on a Monday night. It's rich and almost sweet, with notes of cherries, smoke and liquorice, with some herby and gravelly notes on the finish." Tim's Wine Blog
  • Partner with roast pork, roast beef or game.

Morandina is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and once harvested, by hand of course, they are dried in a fruttaio (drying room), fermented and then matured for 18 months in oak casks before bottling. The finished wine combines black cherry fruit purity with alpine herbs, spice and silky smooth tannins. The best word to describe this wine is - elegance.

Graziano Pra

Winemaker: Graziano Pra

Country: Italy

Graziano Pra is a name synonymous with some of the best Soave, if not THE best Soave, Italy has to offer. His estate can be located in the commune of Monteforte D'Alpone in the very heart of the Soave Classico district.

Graziano fulfilled a lifelong ambition in 2000 when he purchased a small vineyard in the east of Valpolicella, and my word did he choose well! He chose a site located at 450m altitude planted on poor quality steep glacial marl slopes that yield a meagre quantity of richly concentrated grapes.

This wine has a special, mystical appeal - born near the summit of an extinct volcano, where the soil is extremely fertile and rich with minerals, perfectly taken on by the Gamay grapes to produce this pure Cru.
