Vintage in Champagne is usually synonymous with excellence for Prestige Cuvées. Contrarily, Laurent-Perrier believes that only the art of blending can offer what nature can never provide, that is, the perfect year. Grand Siècle is the expression of the perfect year - a great Champagne that has long ageing potential and over time develops depth, intensity and aromatic complexity, yet retains its freshness and vibrancy. Each iteration is based around 3 exceptional vintages from 11 Grand Cru vineyards. It is always made with a majority of Chardonnay in the blend, which is complemented by Pinot Noir, and each bottle is aged for a minimum of 10 years before release.

Founded over 200 years ago in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses. Based in the heart of the Champagne region in Tours-sur-Marne, Laurent-Perrier has a pedigree for innovation, handcrafting elegant Champagnes using traditional, time-honoured methods. The house was acquired by the Nonancourt family in 1949 and, for 50 years, Bernard de Nonancourt dedicated his life to innovating and perfecting Laurent-Perrier champagne. Today, with Bernard’s daughters Alexandra and Stéphanie on the Management Board, the House of Laurent-Perrier is one of the great success stories in Champagne and is the largest independent Champagne brand worldwide.
Michel Fauconnet joined Laurent-Perrier in 1973 and, since 2004, he has been the house's 3rd Cellar Master. He has spent his whole career at Laurent-Perrier, from humble beginnings as a cellar worker, before rising to become a supervisor, then head of the cellar. He is responsible for the wines, from vinification to bottling, and has exceptionally high standards.
"Grand Sièlce Iteration No. 26 is based around the vintages 2012, 2008 and 2007. It has a very complex nose which mixes honeysuckle, lemon, clementine and fresh butter aromas, followed by notes of hazelnut and a touch of honey. The attack in the mouth is very delicate and fresh with candied lemon and fresh hazelnut aromas. The palate is silky and mineral with notes of honeysuckle, flaked almonds and clementine." - Michel Fauconnet, Winemaker.
