  • Using a blank canvas (une toile vierge) on varieties and regions is how this lovely French red was crafted.
  • We gave the same approach to our design team when it came to creating the label and we all love what they came up with.
  • This is great wine to have at hand for all types of gatherings. It is full of red berry fruit, and superbly quaffable with nibbles and meaty mains.

The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Vin De France

This lovely fruit-filled French red was blended without appellation constraints and when given a blank canvas to work with, it can yield some exciting and surprising results. After we'd tasted through a wide selection of vats, tanks and barrels, noting down those that stood out, we began to work on what would end up being our final blend. It is a wine built on a base of lovely Grenache that bring fresh raspberry and ripe strawberry fruit and then layered on top, come Syrah and Carignan but the finishing touch was given to the wine by adding a proportion of wonderfully rich and silky plummy Merlot. An unpretentious red that is fruity and jolly.

The Winemaker

Winemaker:

Iain Munson MW

Iain Studied Oenology in Montpellier back in 1993 but it wasn't until 2000 that he started making wine. He spent 6 years honing his skills in both Minervois and Corbières before joining Vignobles Jeanjean in 2006. At the same time, he started studying and become a Master of Wine in 2016!

"Every year I get excited to make this wine because it is the wine that typifies everything I look to achieve in all my cuvées. This may sit under the Vin de France appellation, but it is a wine that delivers much more than that lowly status might suggest. A fruit-filled red, with lots of juiciness and drinkability." - Iain Munson MW, Winemaker.

Read the reviews and let the bottle breathe for 3 hours before drinking. A light red, quite drinkable. Not too bad but not the most exciting
