When you think of Swartland South Africa, you think sprawling vineyards lining the valley floors overlooked by towering mountains. Yet it is between the vines in these vineyards that innovative winemaking and creativity are making their home. The winemaker, Jacques Theron, has used his expertise to turn two classic Bordeaux varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, into a fresh and juicy treat. This results in a wine bursting with dark cassis fruit intertwined with hints of spice and herbs all bolstered by soft juicy tannins.

Jacques Theron
Jacques Theron has been hands on, working in wineries since he graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2003 after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Viticulture and Enology. In 2017 he became the Senior Winemaker at Riebeek Valley Wine Co where his raison d'être is to express the terroir in each glass of wine. He enjoys understanding and harnessing the diversified terroir of the Kasteelberg Mountain and the individuality of each vintage to create singular wines.
