This youthful Volnay is already drinking superbly well, showing expressive red fruit character, and is just starting to show the first stages of its evolution with a little earthiness. Winemaker Jean-Baptiste, through his love of the land his vines are planted in, seamlessly manages to transfer that into his cuvée's and his wines have exceptional purity, elegance and great intensity. We expect this bottling to reward cellaring, but it is most certainly approachable right away.

Based in Santenay, Jean Baptiste comes from a long family line intimately involved in wine, stretching back over 200 years. Jean-Baptiste collected the Young Burgundian Winemaker of the Year in 2012 at the age of 23, although his teenage years were spent in other verdant fields - football pitches! After a stint as head winemaker for a large Côte Chalonnaise Domaine, he finally set up on his own in 2019 and the selection closely echoes the offerings of his forebears 200 years ago.
