The Wine The Wine
USA
Region:Washington State
Unlike California, Washington State is still new to many wine drinkers. However it is producing really accessible, fruit driven wines. Cascadia takes its name from the Cascade Mountain range, which runs from the north of Washington State southwards into Oregon. It showcases the plush ripe fruit flavours, typically found across this region. You'll be glad you discovered it and wonder why it took you so darn long to do so!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Travis Maple
Travis Maple began working in the Washington wine industry at the ripe age of 19 where he started his career working with Chateau Ste. Michelle. He found an immense passion in working with such a challenging product and how it transforms with time, dedication, and hard work. This experience led him to pursue a degree in Viticulture & Enology. In 2004, Travis met his mentor in the wine industry, John Bookwalter. Travis grew immensely working with John and eventually found himself in the position of his Assistant Winemaker. Travis worked with Bookwalter for 11 years. He left the wine industry for a few years to make Hard Apple Cider. Very soon it became clear that this was not his life's passion and he had to get back in the wine industry, so he ventured over to Walla Walla managing a custom crush facility. In 2017, Travis began working as Assistant Winemaker at the family owned and operated winery, where Cascadia is crafted. His passion and talent for winemaking along with his relentless work ethic quickly became apparent, and in 2019, he was promoted to Winemaker.
"This dark concentrated Syrah possesses flavours of dark berry, clove and white pepper coating the palate with a plush round mouthfeel and leading to a silky-smooth finish." - Travis Maple, Winemaker.
