Les Hautes Terrasses is a blend of some very carefully selected and expressive parcels from around the Rhône, creating a red wine that exhibits the style for which the region has become world-famous - soft-fruited, approachable but full-bodied red. And it triumphs beyond all doubt with gentle ripe plums and cherry with delicate floral scents. A very pretty wine indeed.

We've been on the hunt for a French Malbec that that is crafted in a focussed modern style that is all about natural fruit character, uncomplicated by oak and has none of that rusticity that has been a trademark of this variety in France for generations. I'm pleased to say that we've unearthed one and it was an absolute pleasure putting the final blend together with Winemaker Guillaume Létang, earlier in the year. The finished wine is packed with blue and black fruit and has the finest silky-smooth tannins.

Our search for a great value Sangiovese naturally took us straight to central Italy, but less predictable was unearthing a stunning small parcel of Merlot Ripasso that we couldn't turn down. After a few hours at the blending table, we discovered it was the perfect partner to the crisp and bright Sangiovese on show, too. Only 10% in the blend of this rich Merlot was enough to give the Sangiovese more depth and structure and, most importantly, really enticing fruit sweetness and a lovely, rounded mouthfeel. It remains true to typical Sangiovese varietal character, but with an even more moreish nature.
