Vin De France Cocktails: Perfect for Summer Sipping
By James Batt
With liberty, quality and creativity at the core of its DNA, Vin De France is known throughout the wine world for its individuality, producing wines from unique blends, with heaps of flair.
Well, the winemakers of Vin De France have just upped their game even further by bursting onto the cocktail scene. Yes, you heard that right! Thanks to the diversity and quirkiness of Vin De France wines, they make an ideal base for wine cocktails and can be shaken together with a whole host of other ingredients to make some show-stopping summer tipples.
We’ve got three fantastic wine-based cocktail recipes for you below. So, read on for some summer cocktail inspiration!
Chardo Mule
A bright and refreshing cocktail which has summer written all over it! This Chardo Mule® is a take on a Moscow Mule which features ginger beer and lime. This one makes for the perfect aperitif or can be enjoyed as the main event alongside a fresh salad. Crafted using the Vin De France© La Sirene Chardonnay Gros Manseng 2020, this white blend uses two grapes which are not usually seen together (this is the great thing about Vin De France – winemakers don’t have to follow the strict rules of the French appellation system) creating a wine which is full of orchard and tropical fruit notes. This cocktail tastes just like a summers day.
Ingredients
- Vin De France© La Sirene Chardonnay Gros Manseng 2020
- Ginger beer
- Lemon juice
- Slice of lime
- Ice
How to Make a Chardo Mule
Start by chilling the glass with a few ice cubes to keep the cocktail nice and chilled, then fill the glass around two thirds full with the Chardonnay. Now squeeze in half a lime and give it a little mix to combine the flavours. Top the glass up with ginger beer before giving it another mix and finally garnish with a slice of lime. It couldn’t be more simple!
Red & Roses
This vibrant and quirky cocktail will do all the talking this summer. Beautifully refreshing, yet equally rich and fruity thanks to the red Vin De France. This combination where wine meets tonic creates a real explosion on the palate and will leave guests wowed. Made using the Vin De France© La Sirene Grenache Mourvedre 2020, this cracking red is rich in red and black fruit flavours which remain the star of the show even in this cocktail. Rose syrup is used to add a floral sweetness, perfectly complimenting the wine. The great thing is this cocktail is a match made in heaven with barbecued meats, making it the ultimate summer drink.
Ingredients
- Vin De France© La Sirene Grenache Mourvedre 2020
- Tonic water
- Rose syrup
- Fresh mint leaves
- Ice
How to Make a Red & Roses
Start by adding a few ice cubes to the glass and pour in around 15ml of rose syrup. Grab your bottle of vino and fill the glass around two thirds full and give it a good mix with a spoon, before filling up the final third of the glass with tonic water. Stir the cocktail vigorously once again to allow the flavours to combine. Finally, garnish the cocktail with a fresh sprig of mint or even perhaps a few berries, and sit back to enjoy.
Sauvignon Special
This is another for the white wine fans out there. Upgrade your Sauvignon Blanc this summer by turning it into this delicious concoction. This super fresh cocktail is the perfect palate cleanser or equally as delicious on its own on a lazy summer afternoon. Made using the Vin De France© Les Trois Calices Sauvignon Blanc 2020, this energetic white is citrus led and wonderfully elegant made even livelier when added to this cocktail.
Ingredients
- Vin De France© Les Trois Calices Sauvignon Blanc 2020
- Tonic water
- Cucumber syrup
- Slice of cucumber
- Ice
How to Make a Sauvignon Special
As always start by adding a few ice cubes to a glass first to chill it down – all of these cocktails need to be enjoyed ice cold! Now add around 15ml of cucumber syrup. Next, grab your bottle of Vin De France© Les Trois Calices Sauvignon Blanc and fill the glass two thirds of the way. Top up the final third with tonic water and stir vigorously to combine. Finish the cocktail off by adding a slice of cucumber – pure bliss!
