Maipo Valley, Chile
In the Maipo Valley, Chile, with an awe-inspiring backdrop of mountain ranges, lie the luscious green vineyards of the De Martino family.
The De Martino family moved to Isla de Maipo from Italy back in 1934, where they got to work making wines primarily from Bordeaux varietals. Since then, several generations of the family have explored and vinified more than 347 vineyards all throughout Chile, in search of distinctive terroirs with real wine-making potential. As a result, they now only produce wines from terroirs they believe to be most expressive of their family name and philosophy. A philosophy based on creating balanced, single vineyard wines, using organic practices with minimal intervention, allowing a true reflection of their outstanding origin to shine through.
Boasting more than 85 years of winemaking experience, with vineyards in seven D.O. regions throughout Chile, De Martino are an established name in worldwide wine production. The current team combines the wisdom and experience of third generation family members with the drive and vision of the family’s fourth generation. This is complemented by the expertise of winemakers Marcelo Retamal and Eduardo Jordan, to round off the perfect wine-production package.
Having worked together for more than 10 years, De Martino’s pure, origin-reflective wines have become a crucial and popular part of our award-winning range. De Martino has deservedly received many accolades and awards, being named Chilean Wine Producer of the Year in both 2005 and 2009 by the IWSC, as well as winning Chilean Winery of the Year in 2011.
