The Wine The Wine
Chile
Region:Valle Central
Chile is the best place for great value Pinot Noir that punches well above its price point. It is a notoriously fussy variety but every winemaker wants a crack at making some. The job for us is to find the right winemaker, who can hit the sweet spot of the style we want. After a thorough search we found our man, winemaker Brett Jackson at Vina Valdivieso. He's totally nailed it, crafting a wine that is easy and fresh, with nice sweet pastille fruit and plenty of 'where did the bottle go?' about it.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Brett Jackson
Brett is a Kiwi by birth but fell in love with Chile when taking part in a vintage some 20 odd years ago. He's made wine the world over but the diversity available to him in Chile was the deal clincher. He's now head winemaker for one of Chile's oldest family wineries, Valdivieso at their winery in Lontué and makes a collection of really exciting wines.
"Wines are made to be a part of day to day life, opened up with good friends with simple food and good conversation. I always keep this in mind when I'm making wines and a fruit-first motto has served me well so far. This is a ripe well structured Pinot from some of our best vineyards." - Brett Jackson, Winemaker.
