Simon Coulshaw Single Vineyard Coteaux du Languedoc 2013

Simon Coulshaw Single Vineyard Coteaux du Languedoc 2013

  • 2013 was an immense vintage in Southern France - don't miss what winemaker Simon has captured from it!
  • Beautifully soft and elegant style of red from a single vineyard in Domaine des Trinites.
  • Full of unique fruit characters and bursts of flavour.

Simon Coulshaw only makes this wine in the best vintages. THIS is possibly his finest creation yet, hand-crafted in every element from beautiful Faugéres vineyard fruit in the Languedoc. After a remarkable first vintage in 2007, Simon has now clearly found his knack. For this 2013 red he's let the 'terroir' do its thing: rich, plush, curvaceous in style, with mouth-coating raspberry characters. A big, (softy really) hallmark of the vintage with herbal hints and liquorice to match an overtly fruity nature.

Matthew Jukes talks about The Simon Coulshaw Single Vineyard Coteaux du Languedoc.

"There's a uniquely elegant edge to this blend and it's bursting with masses of sun-drenched fruit."

Winemaker: Simon Coulshaw

Country: France

Simon Coulshaw of Domaine des Trinités is a rising star of Faugéres - an appellation that is attracting more than its fair share of newcomers and curious outsiders. Simon actually worked in IT for 20 years, often abroad, but maintained his interest in wine that was encouraged by his father. In 2004 he began a winemaking course in East Sussex. In his search for the perfect property Simon viewed over 100 potential estates, his passion for Southern Reds had no limits!

Simon was looking for unrealised potential. He found it in the village of Roquessels, where he went on to create a shining reputation. Since arriving in Roquessels in April 2007, with 15ha of Faugéres and 9ha of what is now the Cru of Pézenas, after its reclassification. Simon's cellar is neat and well-equipped; for his first vintage he made 10 different wines! He loves trying out new things - he is our go-to for something exciting in the South.
