Chateau de Grandchamp Montagne St Emilion 2012

Chateau de Grandchamp Montagne St Emilion 2012

  • From stunning satellite St. Emilion.
  • Rich and flavoursome French classic.
  • A winner with roasted and grilled red meats.

This wine enjoyed a warm vintage, as a result becoming both fleshy and juicy. Chateau de Grandchamp is plummy, Merlot-rich Montagne Saint Emilion, supported by blackcurrant-laden Cabernet Franc. Only 2nd and 3rd fill oak was used for ageing so the oak influence is subtle, allowing red and black fruits to dominate on the nose and palate. Older oak also adds light, spicy nuances, enhancing the already silky tannic structure. Drinking great now but possesses all the attributes to age gracefully until 2019.

"I am 44 years old and I bought my property 9 years ago in 3 appellations; Montagne Saint Emilion (7.00 ha ), Puisseguin Saint Emilion (2.50 ha), and Saint Emilion (1.00 ha).My winery is in Montagne. I had previously worked in Sancerre and then in the Medoc before I bought my property. My wife who works in Chateau Labégorce in Margaux is involved with the viticulture side and also the wine making.

I pay attention to the environment using minimal chemical intervention, hand picking and vinifying the wines in concrete tanks looking to conserve the fruit characteristics of the wine and barrel aging."
