  • A real surprise - pretty, fleshy strawberry fruits hide a serious little character that is more than a match for grilled spring lamb. A little cracker!
  • When you compare this gem with what is on offer from Châteauneuf, you'll discover that £ for £ you're a lot better off tapping into Andre's skills without having to pay for the label.
  • Andre Brunel has that rare accolade of having made a wine that Robert Parker gave the perfect score - 100. You'd need about £300 to buy one of those!
  • ABV: 14.0%
  • Vintage: 2021
  • Size: 75cl

The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Rhone - Vaucluse

Fabrice Brunel is such a calm, urbane gent that it is of no surprise to taste that his wines have the same kind of careful consideration and reserve that he does. But he's deceptively passionate too, and he pours as much of this passion into each of his wines, from his top Châteauneufs to this great little number. Complex and intense with peppery spice, dense berry fruits and hints of raspberry, cocoa and vanilla at the finish. Will cellar for up to 3-4 years with ease.

The Winemaker

Fabrice Brunel
Winemaker:

Fabrice Brunel

Fabrice Brunel, son of legendary Winemaker Andre, heads up the team at this fantastic Châteauneuf estate. A winery renowned for producing a range of exceptional wines that are marked by an elegance on the palate that many other producers in the region forgo in a quest for out and out power. A fabulous winery that we've enjoyed a long working relationship with and their wines, from the bottom up, come highly recommended.

"I made this wine because I love making good wine. The Grenache I used for this wine was harvested when it was completely ripe. This was important to give the wine such generosity of flavour while maintaining the roundness and balance. The aromas of crushed red fruits are very typical of this style." - Fabrice Brunel, Winemaker.

Good subtle well balanced wine - would buy again.

This was claimed to be made by a Chateauneuf du Pape specialist, but is rather thin, slightly overcooked but not corked, perhaps sour tasting not sweet or mellow. A bit disappointing
