Barrels of fortified wine

How is Fortified Wine Made?

Fortified wines are wines which have had additional alcohol added to them (usually a distilled grape-based spirit such as brandy) to create a new, sometimes sweeter wine with a higher alcohol level. The two most well-known and popular examples of fortified wine are Port and Sherry, which are usually drank out of small glasses to enhance the fruit flavours and ensure they’re not overpowered by alcoholic fumes.
